Skaftfell is a center for visual art, serving all East-Iceland, running a residency program for scholars and artists and an exhibition program focusing on contemporary art. In addition Skaftfell runs an educational program for all school levels.

The West Wall gallery and the Bookshop - projectspace are venues for various events and short exhibitions.
