Gregory Little Body and Blood

Gregory Little's computational animation Body and Blood, refers to the process of “transubstantiation”, the concept of the substance of bread and wine changing into body and blood. The animated image pairs depict the molecular elements of bread, wine, body, and blood morphing into genetic splices. The DNA protein sequences used in this piece are derived from data downloaded from the Protein Data Bank at the Brook Haven Institute. Body and Blood is an executable computer program that can run indefinitely. The programmatic, code-based artwork uses a custom software application developed by the artist to combine and represent sets of numbers describing DNA protein sequences. A second custom algorithm randomly loads and unloads these models and changes their attributes of motion, color, scale, speed, and density over time. In Body and Blood Gregory Little combines, translates and re/de-contextualizes scientific data and cultural mythology, genes and memes .

19:00 Live Virtual Performance

Second Front Car Bibbe

Second Front presents Al Hansen's Car Bibbe : Unfettered (In the Spirit of Fluxus)
Car Bibbe is a score consisting of written instructions where performers' actions would be determined, originally for up to fifteen cars and operators.  However, some of the instructions offered by Hansen were entirely impractical, like “If someone moves, run them down!” For this reinterpretation of the Al Hansen score, Second Front will perform the piece to its logical extreme in the 3D online virtual world, Second Life . Cars will be set on fire; homicidal motorists may be on the loose! Car Bibbe is a signature work Al Hansen developed over the years, and Second Front is excited to be able to fulfil the potential of this work.
